It had been a long and tiring day for Kyatte and Yalalli, with the dragoness having been egg heavy for close to two months already. She had finally decided that today was the day to clutch them, and so she'd been proddy all afternoon before finally making a spot in the sand wallow for her children's eggs. It took a day and a half for all of them to be clutched, twelve brilliantly shining eggs in total that had sand piled up along the edges to keep them warm. Yalalli turned her head to Kyatte and hummed, dropping her head to nose her 'warrior lightly. You should call for the trainees, they will need to connect with the eggs as soon as possible, she said calmly. The Dragonlady nodded, running a hand over the Emerald dragon's nose before turning to speak with her mate. "Lothar, darling. Have Edolwyn-" "Get the trainees, I know. But do we have enough second years for the clutch?" he questioned. She shook her head. "No... we'll have to get the first years as well. Edolwyn will know which ones to get," she said softly. He nodded and slipped out of the sand wallows, getting the Orientation Instructor and letting her rouse the Trainees from their classes. Edolwyn did just that, gathering every trainee she could with the help of her Famia. "Alright, Trainees, listen up," she said once everyone was gathered before her and at the entrance of the Sand Wallows. "Yalalli has clutched and there are 12 eggs. As you can see, there aren't enough 2nd or 3rd year trainees without dragons for us to have only them bond like is tradition. Many of them transferred to North and West Hall. As such, some of you 1st years that showed great promise are getting your dragon early. This is not a privilege, this is a huge responsibility and you will be worked harder because you get out of the 1 year rule." She fixed the fresh trainees with narrowed eyes before relaxing again and looking over them once more. "Now, we will go in there single file, and once we are there you will each choose your egg. It will call to you. But just because you like an egg, doesn't mean automatically that it is yours. It may be calling to another, and you simply aren't locating yours. So, look around and look at ALL of the eggs. Do not just bum rush the prettiest or the biggest one. Remember, your egg will call to you. Now, let's go. Single file. And no horse play or Yalalli will make the wallows swallow you. It wouldn't be the first time we've lost a Trainee because of her," she said, turning and starting in towards the Sands.
The Eggs 1. The Wildfire Egg - Gideon - Moderate Control Male Ruby ?? 2. The Avalanche Egg - Aren - Powerful Control Light Male Diamond Osanai 3. The Landslide Egg - Male Mottled Emerald to Male Trainee 4. The Heat Wave Egg - Alan - Basic Control Water Male Ruby Kavork 5. The Hail Storm Egg - Quiera - Moderate Control Dark Female Marble (Amethyst/Silver) Wilded6. The Thunder Storm Egg - Natya - Basic Control Air Female Amber Aria 7. The Flash Flood Egg - Male Sapphire to Female Trainee 8. The Volcanic Eruption Egg - Male Ruby to Male Traineez 9. The Tornado Egg - Female Granite to Male Trainee 10. The Tsunami Egg - Wraith - Powerful Control Water Male Sapphire Trip 11. The Earthquake Egg - Evanthe - Moderate Control Earth Female Marble (Emerald/Sapphire) Rene 12. The Pandemic Egg - Azhure - Powerful Control Light Female Ebony Orvesa Alright, this works very simply. You simply post here to claim your egg and care for it. You must post two times in order for your egg to hatch. Post 1 should involve the claiming of your egg and beginning to take care of it. Post 2 should be caring for it again, turning it a couple of times to make sure it hardens properly. Then I will post your egg hatching, and the information on your dragon will be revealed.
Congratulations! Your trainee is now a Dragontrainee and will start those lessons. Enjoy your dragons loves.

Quiera
Quiera was wide awake, having heard the rumors that Yallali was Clutching. She was pacing in her room, her hair unbound-abnormal for her since it got in her way a lot-and her pink eyes restless as they scanned the room every few seconds. "I wish she'd hurry up," she muttered. She was antsy, far moreso than usual, and she was tempted to go out and ride to work off her nerves. But what if the Trainees were called before she got back and she missed her chance, and worse, angered the mother by her absence? She'd heard the rumors of the Dragonlady's Emerald being a slightly volatile beast.
Taking a deep breath, she closed her eyes, then abruptly opened them again as she heard Edolwyn calling for them. She paced out of her room, head held high, eyes straight ahead. She had hesitated to bring her staff, so had a Rune of Shielding bound in leather on one wrist instead, still needing the guard from the bright light that was normally painful to sensitive eyes and skin. She'd also been unsure of what to wear, so was dressed in a simple white gown that was unadorned in any way, not wishing anyone, least of all herself, distracted from the Call.
She inclined her head to Edolwyn, then gently guided Wraith, who had peeked her nose out and been motioned forwards as well, towards the Wallows. When they arrived, the albino took a deep breath, closing her eyes and 'listening' with mind and heart, seeking the one who was her's. Pale gaze opened, fixed, and she padded forwards, the Hail Storm egg her location. She circled it several times, as well as a couple of the others, but kept returning, and eventually, it became clear this WAS the egg calling her. She laid a hand gently on it, then looked to Yallali and bowed her head. "Thank you, for your gift," she murmured respectfully. She then worked to figure out the best way to care for the egg, looking it over, then nodding to herself.
Wraith
Wraith had been in her room working on her reading, completely unaware that the Dragonlady's dragon was in the midst of bearing her children. On her head, her circlet sparkled and gleamed, but no untoward glow did it currently display, no act of overt 'look at me' shown. The young girl was in the midst of something when noise and chaos filled the corridor outside her room, and she frowned, wondering what in the WORLD was going on. Were they under attack or some such? Her Aryvole assured her this was not the case, that the excitement was for a much happier reason, and she got up, settling the three featherballs to the bed and poking her nose out. She was in time to have Quiera tug lightly at her hair, telling her she needed to come as well, and, though she hesitated, she found herself unable to resist the elder Trainee's insinuation. So she followed, allowing herself to be herded through the corridors and tunnels until finally they came out into the Wallows.
Her eyes widened as she took in the wonder before them, and she was unaware her jaw dropped, though a few of her fellows snickered at her. She didn't care, this young waif from the streets. She'd never DREAMED of being able to see dragon eggs this SOON in her Training! And then, the oddest part of all, Edolwyn telling them that those such as HER would be potentially allowed to choose an egg! That couldn't be possible... Not yet, right? she thought frantically. She didn't even know what to DO! She watched as Quiera glided forwards-she knew the girl was actually walking, but she could never help thinking how elegant she was, despite knowing better-and walked among several of the eggs before laying her hand to one and seeming to speak to the mother. Was that how it was done then? Just go and choose? No... Edolwyn had said the egg would CALL to its 'Warrior... How did one know how to recognize the call? She was so confused and worried and upset that she chewed the inside of her cheek until she tasted blood. Only when the coppery taste entered her mouth did she realize she was upsetting herself for nothing, and she didn't wish to upset her potential life partner as well by BEING so stressed... Right?
Taking a deep breath, the skinny little orphan shyly padded forwards, skittering a bit as she got closer to the eggs and their mother, then forcing herself to calm. No fear. No nerves. Just listen... Telling herself that, she halted, hearing only the sand shuffling as those like her moved on it, also seeking. Then, in the back of her mind, she heard it. A sound like pounding waves, so reminiscent of the ocean pounding the shores. Her eyes scanned the eggs, seeking, hunting, and abruptly found the Tsunami Egg, which seemed, to her, to pulse and resound with life. Quietly, she moved to it, looking it over with great care, before nodding to herself. Yes, this was the egg from whence the sound, the call she thought, came, and she gently splayed her hand over the mottled shell and looked to Yallali, unsure of what to say.
Thank you, great Clutchmother, for this unexpected gift... the whisper came along with the glow in her circlet's sapphire, as it revealed the words in her heart, and she gently stroked the egg's shell, wondering how she was supposed to care for it.

Aren was in the library, reading up about the different colors of dragon. It didn't seem that a Dragon's color had any real emphasis on ranking. He heard the others running about in the corridor, and went outside to tell them to quiet down when he realized what it must mean. Today was the day! He left the book on the library table and joined the crowd, spotting the girl he had seen in the library. She had yet to notice him, but then they were asked to step forward and choose an egg. He stepped onto the sandy Wallows, then closed his eyes, listening. He didn't have as much magic as many of these other Trainees, so he had to listen and listen hard. There was more than just sound... It felt cold. He opened his eyes and began to look at the other eggs. Which one... Quiera had already claimed the Hailstorm egg, so it couldn't be that one... He closed his eyes and listened again, concentrating.
It sounded like... Rumbling... But there was still that lingering sense of cold. He opened his eyes again, spotting it. That one. He walked up to the Avalanche egg, kneeling down beside it. He put a soft hand on it, then nodded. This was it. He turned to the Dragon. "Thank you," he said simply. He turned back to the egg, smiling slightly. Now... What to do first? ___________ Natya had been in the archery range, where she spent most of her time these days, practicing again. She saw the older Trainees running toward the Wallows, but didn't pay any attention. She was only a first-year Trainee, she wasn't going to be able to find her egg. Then one of the older Trainees saw her and told her to come too. She nodded and pulled her arrows out of the target, put them and her bow back in the quiver, and handed the Quiver to Moonpool.
"Do you mind taking this back to the room?" she asked the Moonstone Yandori. Moonpool chirped and took the strap in her claws. Natya knew Moony would get it to the room. She forgot completely about her hunting knife on her hip as she ran to the Wallows. She took a moment to get her breath back before she made her way out among the eggs. She spied Wraith's glowing sapphire, smiling slightly. She went over and tapped the girl's shoulder. "You're doing it again," she said jokingly, tapping the sapphire lightly before moving on. She could already hear a dull noise from somewhere, and she closed her eyes and focused on the sound. It was... Rain. She loved rain. It made everything clean the next morning. Then there was a dull thundering sound. Oh, a thunderstorm. She looked around at the eggs, wandering toward the other direction. No, the sound was fading. She turned and walked the other direction again. Alright, it was over here somewhere...
There! That was it! She stopped before the Thunderstorm egg, smiling slightly. But she could feel things from the other eggs... Was that normal? She heard the sound of a wildfire, and felt the heat from the Heat Wave egg as she passed it. She felt a breeze as she passed the Tornado egg... She was glad the Thunderstorm egg had spoken to her first. Being a huntress, she knew on a more intense level how animals were affected by natural disasters like wildfires. She turned to the Clutchmother and bowed slightly. "Thank you so much," she said, her face glowing with joy. She was going to be a Dragonwarrior! Oh, wouldn't her father be proud of her?
She got on her knees next to the Thunderstorm egg and put her hand softly on the hardening shell. What was she supposed to do next? They hadn't gotten that far in her Dragonwarriors class. She looked at the second and third-year Trainees, watching them. She would just do what they did.

Azhure looked up as her name was called, eying the person beckoning to her. She was in the middle of a class, so wondered why she was being called away. Her gaze grew troubled as her thoughts led to her wondering if she was in trouble. She was reassured that it was just for the Clutching, and she was being given the option to be chosen as a 'Warrior due to her potential, even though she was still a new Trainee. She grinned at the completely unexpected news.
Her head whipped around as she arrived at the sand wallow, wanting to take it all in. There were eggs, and one might even be hers. He gaze flicked back to the instructor. Listen to the eggs? What were they listening for? A voice, a sound? Azhure wasn't sure. She stepped to the side, watching as a few people moved forward to walk among the eggs, and others waited back. Her eyes roved over the clutch again, taking in the colors and patterns. She closed her eyes and listened with both her ears and her mind, waiting to see what came to her.
A feeling of nausea suddenly overcame her, causing her to rock back on her feet and fight to resist the urge to gag. She thought she heard someone coughing and the sense of her entire body starting to itch. Azhure's eyes popped open, looking around. The sense that flowed through her was that she would be relieved if she found hers. She moved forward, a bit unsteady. She touched each egg she passed, struggling to locate where it was. The feelings intensified for a moment as she paused, but when she turned to face the right egg, the feeling lessened, disappearing completely as she knelt beside the Pandemic egg. The sickly yellow shell with purple spots. Not the most appealing of eggs, but there was no denying that this was the egg calling her. She stroked the shell, happy that the feeling had faded, even happier that she had indeed been chosen. Azhure looked around briefly, and cooed at the dragonet inside the egg, reassuring it that she was here, that she would protect it.

Gideon listened closely, keeping serious even if he was jittery with excitement. A dragon! And so soon as well! He couldn't have hoped for better. He waited, letting some of the older ones and as well as a few of his fellow first years look over the eggs and choose before he went up.
When the group dispersed a little more he moved forward, opening and closing his hands to keep his excitement in control. He took his time, carefully looking over each egg, standing before every single one and waiting, begging for some sort of pull. Then, there! That was it! He raised his hand, letting it hover over the light green egg speckled with white and spots of blue. But then, like a whisper, it was gone. A disappointed and confused frown crossed his face as he lowered his hand back to his side without ever touching the egg. He moved on, with just a few more left, he was beginning to doubt whether he would ever feel that pull or not.
He stepped up to the next egg. This one was a pale pink with splotches of dark pink and there it was again, that call, but stronger this time than with the green one next to it. Maybe that's why he thought he was called to the other one, because it was so close to the pink one. Hesitantly, he raised his hand once more and with gentle determination placed it on the smooth surface of the egg. A smile spread across his face and he let his hand slide over the shell before pulling it back and stepping away, letting other people in to look over the group.

Alan lifted his head from the papers he was going over as Edowlyn made the call for the trainees to gather. He rose, beckoning to the small girl that was across the table from him and together they went down to where the rest of the trainees were. Sure enough, there was a large gathering that had been called for the clutching. He looked around at his fellow 2nd and 3rd year trainees, noticing then that there were some 1st year trainees as well. He hummed lightly in contemplation before they were marched to the wallows, listening to the orientation teacher speaking. Then they were filed into the sand wallows and he looked at Yalalli from where she stood over her eggs. He offered the emerald mother a friendly smile before moving forward to locate the egg that he would claim as his.
He closed his eyes, letting his magic spread out and locate the niggling feeling. A faint sense hit him before a sudden wave of heat crashed over him, suffocating him with its oppressiveness. He opened his eyes, tracking down the egg that called to him. He moved over to the Heat Wave egg and crouched down, smiling lightly. "Hello darling," he murmured, sliding a hand over the shell. This was his egg, and he took great care to turn it and pile the sand up higher.
Evanthe looked around as her fellow trainees started to select eggs. She waited back, knowing that an egg would have to reach out to her first. Suddenly the sense of the ground shaking ran over her and she gasped, halfway dropping into a crouch before she realized it was the touch of magic. She moved forward, realizing that the vibrations came from the Earthquake egg. She laid a hand on the shell and the vibrations ceased, instead she got the sense of life and energy from within. She hummed happily, caressing the shell. Oh yes, this one was hers. And so she moved to pile the sand higher around her egg in order to help the shell harden, turning it slightly.

((A few weeks later...))
Aren sat on his knees next to the Avalanche egg, with Ricken on his shoulder. "You didn't have to come, you know," he told the Moss Aryvol. He shifted the sand around the egg, turning it gently onto it's hardened side, piling sand on top of the egg so the other side would harden as well. He wanted to know what would hatch from within, but it was hard to wait. He sighed quietly, pulling a soft cloth out of his pocket. He pulled the egg toward him and rubbed the cloth over the egg. He gently polished the shell, smiling softly the entire time.
Natya was also on her knees by the egg that had called out to her, humming a traditional Atrina lullaby to it as she rotated it, sticking the softer end into the sand. She reached out with her mind as she hummed, feeling a wave of content flowing from the dragon within the egg. She couldn't here any thoughts from it yet, but she hoped that it would be hers. How she'd hate for the egg she'd spent so long caring for to go and Bond to another person when it hatched...

Quiera
Quiera was also there, her Yandori on her shoulder. He was looking down at the egg curiously as she shifted the sand around it, digging on one side to cause the egg to slide slightly over. That side had felt a little softer and cooler, and she didn't want her dragon harmed for lack of good care. That just wasn't right. Aridor chirped, agreeing with her, then lifted from her shoulder and to the sand, darting swiftly across it and out of sight. "What is he doing now?" she muttered to herself, then shook her head. He'd be back, she knew. Her staff was in her room, where she always left it while caring for her egg, so she again wore the Rune of Shielding on her wrist, but even then, she was sweating some. Thankfully, it was not due from painful sun rays.
Wraith
Wraith had been carefully observing the older Trainees, those who had been THROUGH all the Lessons on this, and had dutifully come today with Quiera to care for her egg. The older girl had been giving her advice on what to do, how to care for it, as had her Aryvole. All three being female, they instinctively knew what to do, and it was almost amusing to watch them trying to help her care for the egg, as small as they were in comparison to it. Especially her tiny little Turquoise. But Aquamarine was just as determined as her sisters that THEIR Person would be a DragonWarrior, and a GOOD one, with a mighty beast to help protect her and them from any trouble. Being Bound to her, they all had picked up her nerves, how they jangled when she got around certain people in the Hall-namely those she had swiped things from when a begger on the streets-and all knew by now the story of their Person. They did not wish to see her back in that life.
So they helped as best they could, and amused Wraith, even as she cared for the egg, turning it and watching over it, making sure it never got too cold or that a softer section was turned into the heat. She WOULD succeed at this, dangit!
She had to...

It had been a few weeks now, and the egg Azhure sat next to was rather hard. She had been told that the eggs might hatch any day now, so any spare moment the girl had was spent next to her egg. She turned it in the sands, and spoke to it. She had studied the care of a egg carefully, and made sure she didn't miss a step. She leaned down, placing an ear against the shell, listening to the signs of life within it.
She had gotten word back to her family, telling them that she had been selected early, and that an egg had chosen her. They were proud that she showed such promise, to be allowed to try for a dragon so early in her training. She told them she would keep them up to date with news as soon as she knew it.
She smiled, rubbing her hands over her egg, eagerly awaiting for the egg to hatch and for her to finally meet her bonded.

Quiera There was a rumbling in front of Quiera, a slight quaking as the egg beneath her palm began to shake. It shuddered again, a bulge arcing out from it before a small piece chipped away. A clawed toe hooked the edge of the shell and pulled, shattering the egg and a small form rose from the remains. A chirring sound slipped out of the graceful being, shaking off the remainder of the shell before it revealed a marbled dragon, amethyst and silver at that, who defined herself as female. She turned her head and looked at Quiera, chirping at her before sitting down in a spot of sand clear of the eggs, but still close to the girl. Mine. Name? she inquired, looking at the girl closely. Wraith The egg suddenly began to let out tapping sounds as Pearl was helping Wraith with the egg. It tapped again before there was a resounding crack, the egg suddenly caving in on one side. A startled squawk came from within and a baby blue shape rose from the crumbled shell. He shook himself off and pounced on the egg pieces, batting them across the sand until he encountered the shape his mother. He let out another started sound, looking up at his Emerald mother until she rumbled at him. He hummed, turning around and walking back to Wraith, sitting at her feet. Hi! Let's play! he said into her mind, humming with his tail flickering back and forth behind him. He suddenly rolled and attacked his tail, rumbling happily as he caught it.

Azhure It shortly became clear that she wouldn't have to wait for long as her egg began to quiver in front of her. A play of light shot across the shell before a small spiderwebbing of cracks appeared on the surface. It began to cave and then suddenly it shot out, spraying the area with egg shells before a glittering black form became noticeable. Her scales shimmered in the light and she practically glowed despite the dark shade of her scales. The ebony lifted her head, revealing purple eyes that bled into yellow at the center. She locked those eyes on Azhure and moved forward, resting a delicate, clawed foot on her foot as she eyed her. You are... Azhure. You should name me, she said, her voice light and playful to match the way the sunlight danced across her back and drying wings.

An Ebony had chosen her? She gets picked to bond early AND she bonds to one of the rarest dragon colors of them all? She broke out into a huge grin as the dragon reached out and touched her. She already had a name chosen for either gender, and thought the name she had picked for a female dragon now. Orvesa. Your name is Orvesa.Of course it is, silly. Who else would I be? She responded, picking up on the name right away. She nuzzled her bonded happily. "Oh, I bet you are hungry, Orvesa." she said suddenly, remembering the training. " Why don't we feed you now?" Yes, food would be good. My stomach is quite empty. While her voice was light and playful, her movements were very regal, and she waited as Azhure stood back up before slowly making their way to the feeding area and leaving the way clear for the other Trainees.

Aren A humming started up from within the egg as Aren ran the polishing cloth over it, a faint tapping coming from within. A tiny shard of the shell chipped off and a nose poked through it with a huff a leg broke through the bottom. The egg started to twist and roll, falling out of the wallow that it had been sitting it. It started to tumble through the wallow, an undignified squawk coming from within as it crashed into another trainee's egg. The egg shell still did not break though, however the other dragon's did. The Tornado egg bust open and out popped a small granite dragonet. She squawked at the egg rolling around in the sand before marching over to her trainee, a young male, and they moved out of the wallows together. The Avalanche egg gave a mighty shudder and then broke in half. A young Diamond stood there, shaking his head and snorting before bounding back over to Aren. I'm sorry for leaving you, the egg wouldn't let go. You should name me, Aren. And I'm hungry. And then we should play with the others! Or nap... The Diamond gave the draconic equivalent of a shrug before sitting back on his haunches, looking at the trainee calmly. Natya The egg beneath Natya's palm gave a shudder, humming to life and a small voice matching the pitch of her song. A nose poked through the egg shell and then a delicate foot. It rolled and cracked open, revealing an average sized Amber girl. She rose and shook herself off, looking over at Natya and humming. I'm hungry, and we should get out of the way. My brother is about to hatch, she said, pointing her nose at the quaking Flash Flood egg. Indeed it did shortly shatter apart and she flared her wings, covering Natya from the flying fragments that bounced off the majority of her scales. She hummed and lowered her wings once the Sapphire had rolled out of the egg and tromped off with his female trainee. She sat back and looked at Natya again, amusement showing in her eyes. Might I have a name?

Gideon was having difficulties. Here he was, attempting to care for his egg but his little Fiera refused to sit still. Here and there, she ran all over the place, making it difficult for him to do much of any thing as the 'here and there' mentioned was up and down his legs and arms and up to his head and back down again. She was begging to play but he had already told her multiple times that he was busy and they would play later. It took a sharp snap from her cobalt brother to get her to calm down and take her place on top of her bonded's head. Normally Gideon would left the two behind but they both threw such a fit every time he tried to leave them that he pretty much resigned himself to taking them pretty much everywhere he went.
The two went on bickering and Gideon blocked it out as he continued with his egg but was soon distracted again by something much different. Looking over he watched as the first egg hatched, then another.... and then three more, turning back to his egg, he looked at it hopefully, almost expectantly.

Aren let out a startled noise as his egg went rolling, too startled to do anything besides just watch. The Tornado egg broke open when the eggs collided, and the Granite went away with her Bonded. Then his egg broke in half, revealing a Diamond who bounded back to Aren's side. Then he heard the Diamond's voice in his head.
I'm sorry for leaving you, the egg wouldn't let go. You should name me, Aren. And I'm hungry. And then we should play with the others! Or nap... The Diamond then gave a big shrug, which Aren didn't think possible for a dragon.
"Alright... A name... How about... Yuta?"
What is a Yuta?
"Okay, maybe not... Maybe... Osanai?"
Osanai. I am Osanai.
"Okay. That's the hard part done," Aren said as he stood. He noticed that Osanai was easily the largest dragon in this Clutch, and the little Amethyst was probably the smallest. "Let's go get you some food." The pair walked off the sand and out of the Wallows, toward the food setup. _______
Natya didn't catch on to the humming from the egg. The nose that broke through the shell caused her to gasp and fall sideways, landing on her hands. The egg rolled just a little, and the dragon inside broke free. It was an absolutely beautiful Amber dragoness, and Natya felt the bond before she spoke to her.
I'm hungry, and we should get out of the way, the Amber told Natya. My brother is about to hatch. But that was all the warning Natya got before the egg shattered. She ducked, covering her head with her arms, but didn't feel any pain. She looked up just in time to see the Amber pull her wings back in. The dragoness turned back to Natya, eyes whirling in amusement. Might I have a name?
"Someone as beautiful as you needs an equally beautiful name," Natya said to her dragon, smiling. "How does Aria sound?"
Aria... I like it. the Amber replied with a hum. It's perfect. Natya stood with a smile.
"Alright then. Let's get you fed, love."
