Blue Skies, Arrow Strings (Archery Lesson)

Aren sighed, hands in the pockets of his trousers. Rosetta sat on his shoulder, and Crom on his other. Ricken had voted on staying in the room this time. The Moss Aryvol didn't really like archery practice. He had donned his normal attire, a brown pair of trousers, a dark green shirt and a pair of brown hide boots. He got to the range, then looked at both of the Aryvole on his shoulders.

"Both of you stay here," he told them quietly. He picked out three brown arrows, then picked out a shorter bow, preferring the quick reaction. He stepped up and knocked his first arrow, pulled back and aimed for the center, then fired. The arrow hit a little low of the center, so he took the next arrow and adjusted his aim higher. He fired again, still hitting a little low. He took the last arrow, and fired again after adjusting his aim. This time he hit dead-center of the target. He put the bow down and stepped back, in the position for I'm done. When the signal came, he went and retrieved his arrows. He put them back, then stepped back to let the new trainees take their turn. He waited for one of them to come toward him, but at the same time didn't think any of them would.

Ro scampered back to Aren's shoulder, chattering in his ear. He winced. "Ro, not so loud right in my ear," he muttered. She chirped again, quietly, and he smiled at her. He pet her head softly, but the smile disappeared after a moment. He couldn't have others thinking he was too soft.
