I like the idea that this site uses magic, but I was wondering if I could get a bit more clarification about exactly how it works.
In the thread about it, you mentioned that the magic users can do about anything with their magic. So does it basically work like DnD where the magic users can do a little bit of everything or is more of they have the ability to use from one "school" of magic as it were( like only fire, or mind magic, or healing)
Also, are ALL Mages and Magicians trained in the various arts, like runecrafting?
And what level of Mage or Magician would you accept as a first character? Can a Catalyst become a DragonWarrior?

Well, I can't speak for Ivai, but I can tell you both of my characters are Second Level Magicians, one of who would be Level 1 if a Catalyst were to aid her.
Wraith specializes in Ice and Healing Magics, but only because those are the only two that have ever shown themselves in any way. Quiera specializes in Defensive Magic by choice, mainly through the crafting of Runes of Protection.
Those are only specializations. I'm not sure if they could do anything further. I do know that Ivai has a Catalyst as one of her characters.

Catalyst's can indeed become dragonwarriors if the dragon initiates the first contact. I have a character myself that can do that. As with levels, I will accept 3rd and 2nd without blinking an eye, but you need to have a very good layout to get a 1st rank. Borderline 1st is okay though. Specialization occurs. Most of the time they dabble in just about everything, but can only have powerful moments in a couple items without a catalyst there. Yes, everyone is trained in the basic arts like runecrafting. okay, thanks. i just wanted to make sure before I made my character. I LOVE Sorcerers, so a Mage is right up my alley

actually, one more question, as it doesn't seem to specify in the thread. Are Magicians and Mages born able to use their magic, or do they develop it later in life?

They are born with magical properties, and occasionally they will flicker into life, but they will fully develop by 12 years old.
