Dragon Halls
The environments and layouts of the Dragonhalls vary depending on climate. East Hall is perched on a bluff overlooking a huge expanse of white sandy beach. It is a sprawling complex similar to South Hall, arranged in something resembling a square with various outbuildings inside. It is constructed of redstone, with huge open windows giving marvelous views of the beach (for Coastwatch purposes and not only admiring it's cobalt blue water). There is lots of room for Riders, who often have entire suites to themselves. The Great Hall of East Hall are elaborately decorated, but it is mostly sparse and well ventilated for comfort, cooled by Runes. Practicality comes before prettiness here. Around it lies the jungle and, carved out of it, the coastal city of Kamyrr.
The North Hall is set near the Capital City of Shai, Wilame, and is the most populated of all the Dragonhalls. It is set in a structure sprawled across enormous tree trunks, with walkways suspended between the buildings. The Clutching Wallow here is in the Main Cavern of the Hall, with dip in the floor filled with coals and covered to protect the dragoness from burns. The North Hall is fancy and elaborate, with many visitor's quarters due to the fact that it often sees foreigners and even tourists.
West Hall is nearest North Hall, and is set in the mountainranges which it guards. It is the most Magic-Oriented Hall, and is set in an amazing complex high in the mountains, carved out of the stone itself. It is elaborate and beautiful, with delicate sculptures of stone and engravings everywhere. It can only be accessed by dragons or skilled climbers, since it is so high.
South Hall is a low complex of buildings wandering through the desert, seemingly erected randomly as the Hall expanded. It is sandstone, and blends in admirably with it's sandy surroundings. It features interconnected rooms, with tunnels joining them through the sand, or occasionally (in the case of the Trainee rooms) being directly connected. There are sand wallows for the dragons all over.
Climate etc
North Hall: Forest area, and bordering another kingdom. Moderate-cold and mountainous. Near Capital city. Large population of Riders and dragons. Protects the border and capital city, with the most Riders delegated to protecting the Royalty or as ambassadors.
West Hall: West Coast, and nearest North Hall. Mountainous, moderate-cold and wet, and rocky in terrain. Sparse vegetation, and near the sea. Moderate-small population. It's protection area is the coastline, which it guards from raids (though the seas are very unpredictable in this area) and the Western Islands. The most elaborate Hall.
South Hall: Hills-to-desert. Far south, though inland from the Shai Peninsula: Fairly warm and dry. Little vegetation except grasses and low shrubs. A dense population of Riders and dragons. It protects the plains Villages from bandits, and looks over grasslands. Seperated by a mountain range from much of Shai.
East Hall: East Coast. Hot and humid in climate, with lush jungle-style trees and long sandy beaches. It is the most action-oriented Hall. It protects the East Isles, which are extensive islands where Pirates and Raiders often lurk, and the coastline fishing villages. It sees the most deaths, and has only a small number of riders and trainees because of it.
Dragons
Eastern Dragons are compact and energetic, and have the most range in size. They are often excellent swimmers as well as agile fliers, and marvelous at diving for things. Their attack method is mostly through diving at things then pulling up before they can be shot, and tearing them apart. Others take their victims to the heights, and drop them. Most East Hall riders are archers. These dragons grow to about 12-13 ft, and 24 ft in length.
Northern Dragons tend to be largest and sturdiest of the 4 kinds, and are not used to fighting: they are more pampered and see the least action in regards to protecting Shai. Their attack methods vary, and usually involve letting their riders hit things with fireballs or entomb people in the ground. They are best with hand-to-hand (or claw-to-claw) They grow up to 13 ft in height, and 25 ft in length.
Western Dragons are small and lean, with thick hides to protect them from the colder temperatures and worse weather of the west. Their attack method usually consists of magic (runes engraved on their armor that give them additional abilities) such as breathing flame. This doens't mean that they can't attack with claws: they often wear spiked helms as well. They are hardened to fighting, and grow up to about 11 ft in height, and 21 ft in length.
Southern Dragons are long and lithe, and often paler in shade to deflect heat. They are indifferent to heat, and used to it. They are fierce fighters, and excellent at tailing or stalking things. Their attack method is mostly through their claws and teeth, though wear barbed sheathes on their tails that they inflict much damage with. Most South Hall riders are Jousters. They grow to about 11 ft in height, and 25 ft in length.
